Zoom is a communications platform that allows users to connect with video, audio, phone, and chat. Using Zoom requires an internet connection and a supported device.

Benefits

The focus of eLearning is to assist with the integration of technology for online, hybrid, and classroom-based courses. Faculty are provided services that include instructional design, training, and support.  Video communications in education offers: 1) access to increased educational resources, 2) flexibility for the learner, and 3) equal opportunities for students and teachers regardless of location.

With the advent of the Internet, education has become more virtual, with students and teachers communicating globally, and degrees conferred without the need to meet the educator or other students. 

Best Practices

License Type and Support

  • Siena College has a full site license which allows for all Faculty, Staff, Administrators and Currently Enrolled Students access to a full licensed Zoom Account.
  • Once a student graduates from Siena College as their email account changes to an alumni account, their Zoom accounts changes to a basic account.
  • Siena does also have one of each of the following additional types of accounts.
    • Large Meeting License – if your meeting needs more that 300 participants we have a single large meeting license of 1000 participants
    • Webinar License – If you need to have a webinar style meeting we have a single webinar license that will allow for up to 1000 participants

  • AcadTech gives a first level support of all Zoom questions and problems for meetings and events.  If your question or problem is beyond our scope we will assist with support directly with Zoom.
