EPortfolio Solutions

Currently, Siena community has access to three eportfolio solutions: Digication, a standalone fully functional eportfolio solution; and two other eportfolio tools via Canvas: Canvas ePortfolios, and Canvas Student ePortfolios (aka Folio, or Portfolium).

Canvas ePortfolios

Available through the Account Menu, Canvas ePortfolios is a place where you can display and discuss the significant submissions and experiences that are happening during your learning process. If you are a student or instructor enrolled in a course, you can build an unlimited number of ePortfolios in which to collect and document your educational projects, submissions, experiences, and other work products. You can keep ePortfolios private or share them with other students, instructors, and/or future employers.

Canvas Account Menu

Canvas Student ePortfolios

Available through the Account menu, Canvas Student ePortfolios is an academic portfolio network, provided by Profolium, allowing you to showcase your education and work accomplishments and connect with other professionals. Your Canvas Student ePortfolios profile allows you to organize and display previous educational and professional content. You can upload images, Videos (YouTube, Vimeo), PDFs, text documents, and more to your portfolio. It also allows you to connect with people and companies you already know, as well as follow companies you are interested in. You can discover and apply for jobs and add specific pieces of content to showcase your qualifications. You can also view content posted by other users to discover how they accomplished their work, you can like their content, and comment or message them for advice.

Digication

Digication is available to Siena Community and widely used by students and faculty members.

Upcoming Changes

Canvas is planning to discontinue both tools on 6/30/2026. (See an announcement by Instructure’s Chief Product Officer in May 2025).

Data available to Academic Technology indicate that the usage of Canvas ePortfolios is extremely limited. On the other hand, there is no data available regarding the usage of Folio.

It is up to the users to back up their eportfolios and associated documents and files before the tools go away in June 2026.

Alternatives:

Canvas is rolling out a new tool, Canvas Enhanced Portfolio. Canvas Enhanced Portfolio offers two types of portfolios to support both learner-driven and instructor-guided use cases: Showcase Portfolios and Evaluation Portfolios. These tools support storytelling, assessment, and the validation of competencies. Academic Technology team is testing its functionalities. Stay Tuned.

For those who needs a fully functional and robust portfolio solution, Digication is still available to Siena Community.
